The practical examination of this level is usually taken after the completion of 2nd year papers. There are total 26 education boards in Pakistan.
The board of intermediate and secondary education Rawalpindi is one of the largest boards of the Punjab province which are main bodies for the handling of the education system of Pakistan. The Board was established back in 1977 and from then it has been serving the nation and fulfilling the educational desires of the students. The board awarded the students with higher secondary school certificate on successful passing the examination.

The jurisdiction includes all those areas which are administered educationally by the board. BISE Rawalpindi Attock district, chakwal district, Jhelum districts and Rawalpindi district in its jurisdiction.
The main function of the board is to organize the SSC and HSSC examination in the region which is its jurisdiction. All the students from those areas are registered with the board and it then conducts the examinations. Other than that the board affiliates all the schools and colleges in the region with the board.
The examination season is supposed to be started in March which continues till June. In the first two months of the season, SSC examinations are conducted followed by the examination of HSSC. Registration starts before a couple of months from the examination.
Results are released by the board after three months of the examination on the official website or through gazettes. The SSC results are normally announced in the months of July and August whereas the HSSC results are announced in the late September and early October.
